WHTTWOT seems in some ways to be a book that people either "get" or "don't get". The ST interviewer obviously "got it", which made the interview that much more enjoyable.ronniehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14044863062652781155noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1568334561722760329.post-56389195915840959872009-11-04T16:12:20.511-08:002009-11-04T16:12:20.511-08:00Thanks, I really appreciate that. I think it's become a highlight of their year.

I also liked your piece for Lulu, but would disagree that in cartooning "the writing must be as good as the artwork." It ought to be much better! Great writing can carry great art, but great art can't save bad writing. My friend Otis Frampton and I call ourselves writers who can draw, which I think sums it up.

Thanks again.Brian Fieshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16347700145666751363noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1568334561722760329.post-80268952790560417322009-11-04T15:01:54.173-08:002009-11-04T15:01:54.173-08:00I read your interview at Sequential Tart and was t...I read your interview at Sequential Tart and was thoroughly impressed with your thoughts on crafting WHWT. It is refreshing to find individuals in the graphic arts community who choose optimism for the future rather than the "easy, lazy" route of cynicism. I've gotten weary of graphic novels which feature young twenty-somethings realizing that most of what they thought about life is bleak crap. It can be interesting if done right, but when you read that message over and over again, it grows stale.

Thank you!

Rachel Heston Davis
Up and Writing
www.rachelhestondavis.wordpress.comAnonymousnoreply@blogger.com
