Slice: The Final Frontier, or Deep Dish Nine

I don't know what took somebody 45 years to think of this, but I want one:

A beautiful, gleaming, silvery chrome-plated USS Enterprise pizza cutter. Now that's a work of art.

sniff. Pardon me, I've got something in my eye. Must be a bit of . . . sniff . . . pepperoni. Or anti-matter.

Not sure it's worth $24.99, but Christmas is coming. You can find it here. Karen.

Ooh. And it's the old school model, too -- with the original series nacelles. Mike want!!!

A Bird of Prey set of salad tongs would be a welcome accompaniment.

Actually, if you go back and research this - I know I heard this somewhere - the original was made of a cheap disposable razor or something, wasn't it? Or was that a Star Wars ship? I swear I'm not lying about this, although I've probably got it mixed up a bit . . . I'm no Trekkie . . .

Ah, so, anyway, my point was that a pizza cutter is kind of apropos, considering the kind of materials SFX folks used for stuff like this . . .

Anon: Oddly enough, I think I know where your "disposable razor" notion comes from. I recall seeing a "making of" film about "Star Trek: The Next Generation" in which a small alien ship, to be shown briefly and only once, was built from a razor. A lot of the special and practical effects were indeed spit and gaffer's tape. But the main ships in all the series were beautiful physical models. The original USS Enterprise (upon which the pizza cutter is based) was 11 feet long and now hangs in the Smithsonian.
